Max joined the Health Promotion and Wellness (HPaW) team in August 2024. He is serving as the Health Promotion Specialist on staff. In this role, Max assists with the administration of the BASICS program, which stands for Brief Alcohol Screening Intervention for College Students. Max is also a facilitator for other AOD (alcohol and other drugs) programs under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Substance Misuse Prevention. These programs include Red Watch Band, Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Training, and Drinking Culture Close-Up. In addition, he also provides wellness coaching services. Max began his student affairs journey by serving as a resident assistant and First-Year Coordinator at Alma College. Through his housing work, Max saw the importance of personalized student support and wishes to use his public health education to help students build a foundation for their individual holistic well-being and wellness.

Max acquired his B.A. in Public Health in 2021 from Alma College, a small private liberal arts college in Michigan. He then graduated from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) with a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Health Behavior and Health Education. These experiences defined how Max approaches health promotion work and bettered his understanding of the importance of health information in people’s everyday decision-making. In his free time, Max enjoys classic 80s movies, video games, weightlifting, and a good cup of coffee.
