Student Recognition

National Student Employment Week

Every year, the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) declares the second full week in April to be National Student Employment Week. It was established to increase public awareness and to recognize students who work while attending college.

Student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. Setting aside a special week to draw the awareness of others, both on and off campus, is the perfect opportunity to show your appreciation.

We encourage you to find ways to celebrate the student employees in your area. Below are some suggestions:
  • Decorate your office
  • Friendly competition (games, trivia, or an office dodgeball game!)
  • Treats and other goodies
  • NU swag or professional items (portfolios, pens, stationary, etc.)
  • A written thank you note of appreciation

Student Employee of the Year

Our students provide valuable services and intellect to Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ through their student employment positions. Most departments could not make it without their students' help. Each spring, in conjunction with National Student Employment Week, employers may recognize and nominate their student employees for Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) to acknowledge their contributions, merit, and commitments to the role, and let them know how much their work is appreciated.

Students are evaluated based on the following:

  • Community Service
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Leadership
  • Technology and Innovation
  • Critical Thinking
  • Overall Student Employee of the Year
