Having a car can be very convenient, but it's important to know the rules so you and your vehicle stay safe and out of trouble.
Residential Parking Permits
Parking permits are available from the City for 25 high-demand residential areas. Vehicles must display a current residential parking district permit for the specific area in order to be exempt from certain posted regulations. Only residents who live within a specific residential area can purchase residential parking permits.

Snow Removal and Street Cleaning
are in effect from December 1 to March 31. Cars left on the street during certain times and snow emergencies are subject to tickets and removal. If there is a snow emergency sirens will sound at 8:15pm and the parking ban will begin at 11 p.m. You can always check to see if there is a snow emergency.
There are also certain on-campus lots that are designated "no parking" after a snow emergency. Here is list of the "no parking" zones -- under "SNOW REMOVAL POLICY" at the bottom of the page.
Parking on Campus
Permits are required for all Evanston campus lots from 8:00 am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday unless otherwise posted. Remember that you need a permit even during quarterly breaks. You can purchase a parking permit through Evanston Campus Parking Services.
