Jamiece Adams
Jamiece Adams is the facilitator and program manager for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accountability (IDEA) Education and Training. In her role, Jamiece assists in the creation and facilitation of a wide variety of educational offerings and trainings related to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability (IDEA) for Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s Evanston, Chicago, and Qatar campuses. They utilize best practices in teaching and learning to inform the development of IDEA-related curriculum and engage innovative pedagogical strategies for delivering effective education and training to students, faculty, and staff.
Before her time at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, Jamiece was an adjunct Professor at Columbia College Chicago teaching in the English and creative writing department. She utilized experiential learning methodologies to empower their students to take creative risks and grow as young artists. Alongside her role at Columbia, she was also the program manager for a non-profit organization. She facilitated and developed curriculum for 7 rotating programs for young people in the Washington Park area. These programs were grounded in Black Queer Feminist theory and designed to support young people in their journey as budding organizers and activists in their communities.
Jamiece is the founder of the organization Swish Queer Basketball Club, a brave space where QT and nonbinary BIPOC folks can build community and embody movement in a space that challenges traditional ideas around sports and care. Her pedagogical practices around diversity, equity, and inclusion actively support the programming Swish develops for the community. For this work, she has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, The TRiiBE, and WEBZ Chicago’s Reset. Swish is also a community partner with the Chicago Bulls.
She earned her bachelor's degree in Broadcasting Production from Western Illinois University. They hold a master's in fine art from Columbia College Chicago in English and Creative Writing. They were also a Lambda Literary Fellow and an In-Session threewalls Artist Fellow.
