Community Engagement Coalition

The Community Engagement Coalition promotes undergraduate Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵhip at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ by convening and supporting student-led organizations committed to local civic engagement and community service. The Coalition provides a collaborative space for confronting local social justice issues through student group collaboration in partnership with the local community.

Community Engagement Coalition affiliated student groups commit to send a contingency of 2-3 student Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ from their Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵhip team to participate in one meeting per quarter.  Coalition meetings focus on networking, exploring issues of ethical engagement, hearing from local community Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ and discussing programming collaborations and community concerns.

Student organizations recognized as Coalition members will receive priority in regards to campus resources offered by the Leadership Development and Community Engagement Office (i.e. special grant funds, invitations to dinners with guest speakers, access to local social justice education events and trainings)

Any questions can be directed to kelly.bencola@northwestern.edu or val.buchanan@northwestern.edu.

The Coalition hosted a series of virtual interviews during COVID with community and campus Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ on the topic of community engagement. The interviews, facilitated by Flannery Cusick '21 and Alex Moore '21, are designed to help Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ students learn about and from local Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ.
